Senator Adams Oshiomhole has called for the revocation of the licences of South African companies operating in Nigeria, including MTN and DSTV, because of the renewed wave of xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.

Blacks in South Africa are telling their African brothers to leave their country, arguing among others that they are taking their jobs.

He proposed that Nigeria should nationalise MTN and DSTV and withdraw their operating licences. Arguing that, a South African company is cutting away millions of dollars from Nigeria every single day, while Nigerians face hostility in South Africa.

The call comes as the Senate on Tuesday, 5th of May 2026, condemned the latest wave of attacks, urging the Federal Government to take immediate diplomatic and protective measures to guarantee the safety of Nigerians abroad.

He added, “If you hit me, I’ll hit you. I think it is appropriate in diplomacy. It’s an economic struggle.”
