Zulum: After Tinubu, Presidency will Return To North
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has called on Nigerians to be patient with the Federal Government as it works to tackle insecurity, poverty, and other pressing issues. He said the Tinubu administration needs time and support to implement its policies effectively.
Zulum revealed that northern leaders came together about five years ago with the goal of fostering unity in the region, and that goal has now been achieved. He added that the North played a key role in supporting President Bola Tinubu’s emergence, and stressed the need to maintain the political agreement between the North and South.
According to him, northern leaders are committed to honoring the understanding reached with southern leaders regarding power rotation. After Tinubu’s tenure, he said, the presidency should return to the North in line with that
The governor noted that during a recent meeting with northern elites, discussions focused on insecurity, the high number of out-of-school children, and poverty. He said far-reaching decisions were taken to address these challenges and improve living conditions across the region.
Zulum also spoke at an engagement with women Ulama, describing it as vital for promoting peace, unity, and mutual understanding. He urged the women to take the messages from the meeting to their communities, noting that women have a major role in shaping families and maintaining peace.
He emphasized that women made up between 60% and 65% of voters in Borno during the last election, and their involvement is crucial for peacebuilding and responsible politics. He encouraged them to be patient, saying Islam teaches patience during trials, and expressed hope that justice and relief would come.
The governor commended the organizers of the women Ulama meeting and urged them to replicate such gatherings in other states. He concluded that peace remains the top priority for northerners, and called on all Nigerians to work together to address areas that still need improvement.
