Oluremi Tinubu empowers 1,000 women, inaugurates industrial leather hub in Lagos
First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women and promoting enterprise development in Lagos. She empowered 1,000 women and commissioned a new industrial leather hub in Mushin.
The Renewed Hope Initiative Empowerment Programme aimed to equip women with necessary tools and resources to build successful businesses. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu supported the program with additional empowerment items, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in Lagos to 1,000 women.
The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development. Over 18,500 women across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones will benefit from the program.
The empowerment program distributed items such as gas cookers, grinding machines, and generators to help women build successful businesses. Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The First Lady commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support and commitment to women’s growth and development in Lagos. She advised beneficiaries to use the resources wisely to improve their lives and families.
Senior Special Assistant Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire highlighted the program’s alignment with SDGs 1, 2, 5, 6, and 10. She emphasized that financially empowered women would improve their families’ welfare and accelerate national growth.
Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Senator Tinubu for her decades-long commitment to good governance and women’s development. He urged beneficiaries to resist selling their empowerment items and instead use them to build their businesses.
The ceremony marked a significant step in empowering women and promoting economic growth. Senator Tinubu’s initiative aims to create a better life for women and their families, contributing to Nigeria’s prosperity.
