NGX: Equities market dips further as investors shed N292 bn

Investors in the Nigerian equities market lost N292 billion at the close of trading on Thursday.

This followed the dip in the share prices of stocks such as Neimeth, Omatek and Tantalizers, among others, on the trading floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) fell to 144,187.03 points from the 144,646.01 points recorded the previous day.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalisation decreased to N91.7 trillion from N92 trillion posted by the bourse on Wednesday.

The market breadth was negative with 27 stocks advancing, 28 stocks declining, and 94 stocks remaining unchanged in 18,753 deals.

A total of 349,289,186 units of shares valued at N9.2 billion were traded today.

NCR Nigeria, Royalex, and CI Leasing led the gainers with 10%, 7.57% and 6.00% growth in share prices, respectively, to close at N37.40, N1.99, and N5.30 per share, up from the previous N34.00, N1.85, and N5.00 per share.

Neimeth Omatek and Tantalizers led other price decliners with a 10%, 10%, and 9.75% dip each in share price to close at N4.95, N1.17, and N2.50 per share, down from the previous N5.50, N1.30, and N2.77 per share

On the volume index, Omatek Ventures led trading with 1.2 billion shares in 38 deals, followed by Neimeth, which traded 2.4 million shares in 120 deals.

Tantalizers traded 29 million shares in 437 deals.

On the value index, Guaranty Trust Holding Co traded stocks valued at N2.1 billion in 898 deals, followed by Fidelity Bank, which traded equities worth N1 billion in 394 deals.

Zenith Bank Plc traded shares valued at N820 million in 993 deals.
