NDLEA intercepts shipment of USA, UK-bound opioids in lady’s synthetic hair

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives intercepted five parcels containing drugs concealed in ladies’ clothes and synthetic hair, bound for the US and UK at a courier firm in Lagos,

In Ibadan, Oyo State, a 57-year-old man, Oladimeji Samson, was arrested with 79 blocks of cannabis sativa and 48 grams of ecstasy hidden in a bus engine compartment.

The agency also seized a massive consignment of 175,000 bottles of codeine opioid imported from India at the Port Harcourt Ports complex in Onne, Rivers State. This followed an earlier seizure of 175,000 bottles of codeine-based syrup at the same port.

In Kebbi State, a Nigerien, Hassan Mummuni, was arrested with 4,000 pills of diazepam and 1.250kg cannabis, while in Gombe State, Ibrahim Abubakar was arrested with 6,740 pills of tramadol and 20,000 tablets of diazepam.

In Benue State, Onyekachi ThankGod Iwula was arrested with 1,098 bottles of codeine-based syrup, and in Bauchi State, Hasana Usman was arrested with 25 blocks of cannabis sativa. Additionally, Ali Mohammed was arrested in Yobe State with 19,000 pills of tramadol.

The NDLEA also seized 17,980 pills of tramadol and other opioids from Ali Isiaka Mohammed in Kogi State, and 804 bottles of codeine syrup from Blessing Samuel and Unnanchi Mike in Kaduna State.
