Fayose Meets Obasanjo in Abeokuta
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Sunday, paid a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, ahead of Fayose’s 65th birthday celebration on November 15.
The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, shared photos from the visit via his X handle. The images captured the two leaders in a warm exchange, suggesting a reconciliation after years of public disagreement.
In one of the photos, Obasanjo, dressed in a white traditional outfit and green cap, was seen playing Ayo, a traditional Yoruba board game, while Fayose looked on, smiling.
Fayose and Obasanjo have had a history of political tension, often finding themselves on opposing sides of Nigeria’s political divide.
Sunday’s visit, however, appears to mark an end to their strained relationship. It also follows a series of goodwill visits to Fayose ahead of his milestone birthday, including one from former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo earlier in the week.
