Police detain officer in viral naira abuse video with Okoya’s sons

The Nigeria Police Force has detained a police officer captured in a viral video involving the alleged abuse of the naira.

The video, shared by the sons of Lagos businessman Chief Okoya, sparked widespread outrage.

Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed the development on social media platform X, stating that the officer has been identified and is undergoing disciplinary procedures.

“The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of Chief Okoya, where the naira was abused, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action,” Adejobi said.

He condemned the officer’s involvement, describing it as unethical and contrary to the core values of the police force.

“The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it is unethical. We will always strive to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police,” he added.
