NDPC launches training for 500 data protection officers

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission has rolled out its Data Protection Training and Certification initiative, aimed at training 500 data protection officers to address the growing demand for skilled privacy professionals in the country.

In a statement released on Monday, the NDPC said the programme is designed to develop a pool of skilled professionals in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (NDP-SRAP) 2023-2027.

It also aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to create two million jobs in the digital economy sector.

“This initiative is designed to address the growing demand for data protection and privacy professionals, equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive in the ever-evolving digital landscape,” the statement noted.

The commission emphasized that the training supports Pillar 2 (Human Capital Development) of the NDP-SRAP, underscoring its commitment to fostering a robust workforce to meet Nigeria’s data protection needs.

The NDPC urged interested candidates to complete their registration via [this online form](https://forms.ndpc.gov.ng/dpotraining/) as slots are limited.

This initiative follows the September 18 memorandum of understanding signed between the NDPC and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development aimed at training 5,000 youths in data privacy and protection.
