Jagun Jagun’ dominates 2024 BON Awards with six awards

Nollywood’s epic blockbuster Jagun Jagun, produced by Femi Adebayo, stole the spotlight at the 16th edition of the Best of Nollywood Awards, held on Sunday night in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Hosted at the prestigious Sugar Factory Film Studios and anchored by actress Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, the event celebrated excellence in Nigerian cinema, with Jagun Jagun emerging as the night’s biggest winner.

The Netflix original claimed six awards, including major categories like Best Actor, Best Indigenous Film, Best Costume, Best Production Design and Best Special Effect.

The film was also acknowledged for its storytelling and visual appeal, underscoring its impact on the industry.

Another notable winner was ‘Momiwa,’ which earned accolades for Best Editing and Best Screenplay, further showcasing the depth of creativity in Nollywood’s offerings this year.

Jagun Jagun, which premiered in August 2023, has been celebrated for its gripping narrative and visual excellence.

The Yoruba epic tells the tale of a revered warlord whose power and authority are challenged by the arrival of a fearless young warrior.

The story explores themes of leadership, insecurity, and the quest for dominance, resonating with audiences locally and globally.

Femi Adebayo’s masterpiece was nominated in 12 categories, reflecting its widespread acclaim.

The BON Awards, known for spotlighting exceptional talent in Nigerian cinema, continues to honor the dedication and creativity of filmmakers, actors, and industry professionals.
