State Orders Park Shut Down Police in Osun State have recovered a second body following a weekend shooting at the Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths to two. State police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi shared the update on Monday, confirming that the case is now under full investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department.

The announcement came on the same day that community figure Olalekan Oyeyemi, widely known as “Emir,” was laid to rest at his private residence in Osogbo. Oyeyemi lost his life on Sunday during an armed disagreement between competing groups at the motor park.Observers note that the confrontation grew out of disputes over who will serve as the next state leader for the commercial drivers’ union, the National Union of Road Transport Workers.

To prevent further unrest, Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered the park to shut down immediately and instructed law enforcement officers to identify and arrest those responsible for the violence.

Transportation officials also clarified that recent discussions with union members were intended only to hear their requests, not to bypass proper selection processes.Police leaders have appealed for calm, advising anyone connected with the disturbance to report directly to investigators rather than addressing the matter on social media platforms.
