2027: Kwara North Rulers Endorse President Tinubu, Danladi-Salihu
Traditional rulers and political stakeholders in Kwara North Senatorial District have pledged to mobilise massive votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and it’s caitsates in the 2027 general elections.
The monarchs declared their support for the party’s Presidential candidate, President Bola Tinubu and governorship candidate, Mr Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, insisting that the region’s opportunity to produce the next Governor of Kwara State should be supported by stakeholders across the state.
They made the pledge at an engagement of traditional rulers and political stakeholders from Kwara North held in Bode Saadu, headquarters of Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The meeting, themed “Kwara Project 2027: A Path Towards Sustainable Unity and a More Prosperous Kwara,” was convened by the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council.
It attracted traditional rulers from the five local government areas in Kwara North, members of the state House of Assembly, council chairmen, political office holders, community leaders and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Bologi expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as their commitment to the development and political aspirations of Kwara North.
“History has repeated itself today. We were here in 2024 to plead with Mr President and the Federal Government to consider our agenda. We are here today to officially thank President Bola Tinubu and our amiable governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for fulfilling their promises to Kwara North and the entire people of Kwara State,” he said.
The monarch also acknowledged the support of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, traditional rulers from Kwara South and other stakeholders working towards the progress of the state.
He said Danladi-Salihu’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate had strengthened Kwara North’s sense of political representation ahead of the 2027 election.
Bologi urged residents of Kwara North and other parts of the state to support AbdulRazaq, citing what he described as the achievements of his administration.
“As the 2027 general election approaches, it is important for us to unite, engage our communities peacefully and promote responsible participation in the democratic process so that the APC and all its candidates, from the President to the State House of Assembly, emerge victorious at the polls,” he stated.
Other traditional rulers who spoke at the gathering echoed the Etsu Patigi’s position, pledging to work towards the electoral success of Tinubu, AbdulRazaq, Danladi-Salihu and other APC candidates.
In his remarks, Danladi-Salihu thanked the traditional rulers and people of Kwara North for their support, guidance and goodwill.
He commended Tinubu and AbdulRazaq for what he described as their support for the region, assuring them that their gesture would be reciprocated with massive votes from Kwara North in the 2027 elections.
The APC governorship candidate also drew a parallel between his ambition and Tinubu’s “Emi lo kan” declaration during the 2023 presidential election, maintaining that it was Kwara North’s turn to produce the next governor of the state.
“I am not just contesting to be Governor of Kwara State; I want to be the Governor of Kwara State, and I will be the Governor,” he declared.
