Tinubu arrives in Ghana for inauguration of President Mahama

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Accra, the capital of Ghana, ahead of the inauguration of Ghana’s new President, John Dramani Mahama, set for today.

President Tinubu departed the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 4:20 PM and landed at Kotoka International Airport in Accra at around 4:05 PM, Ghanaian time.

He was warmly received by Hon. Julius Debra, Chief of Staff to the President of Ghana.

During his visit to Ghana, President Tinubu, who is also the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, will join other African leaders for the swearing-in ceremony of President Mahama and Vice President-elect Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

The visit follows an invitation extended to President Tinubu by Mahama, who had visited the Nigerian leader in December 2024.

The two leaders share a longstanding personal relationship, as do the nations of Nigeria and Ghana with their strong bilateral ties.

Accompanying President Tinubu on the trip are Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, and other senior government officials.
