The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Wednesday said it has successfully restored bulk power supply to several northern states after completing repairs on a vandalised section of the 330KV Ugwuaji-APIR transmission line.
The restoration, completed at 4:56 pm on October 30, 2024, brings electricity back to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe states, according to TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.
The restoration follows days of extensive work by TCN engineers, who prioritised repairing the damaged line to minimize the impact of power outages on affected communities.
“With the repair of this line, the Apir-Lafia 330KV transmission line 2 is also operational, allowing us to resume bulk power transmission to these northern states,” TCN said in a press statement.
Mbah noted that repair efforts will continue, with plans underway to restore the second 330KV transmission line.
According to him, necessary materials have been secured, and work is set to begin once the site is deemed safe for TCN personnel. “Teams of linesmen are currently patrolling the second line to ensure that other sections have not been compromised.
“TCN recognizes the importance of stable electricity and is committed to restoring the 330kV transmission line 2 as swiftly as possible,” Mbah said.
He, however, assured residents that TCN is working diligently to strengthen the power supply across affected areas.
