Senate to honour late Ubah in valedictory session today

The Nigerian Senate will today honour the late Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South, in a special valedictory session.

The casket bearing the remains of the senator lies in state at the foyer of the White House wing of the National Assembly Complex, where senators, dignitaries, and guests have gathered to pay their final respects.

The day’s plenary session has only one agenda item, titled “Valedictory Session.”

At the commencement of proceedings, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele (APC – Ekiti Central) will move a motion for the chamber to formally honor the late senator. The motion reads:

“That the Senate do now pay tributes in honour of late Senator Ubah, Patrick Ifeanyi (Anambra South) (3rd September, 1971 – 26th July, 2024).”

Family members, close relatives, friends, and political leaders from Anambra and other South East states are already present in the Senate to witness the session and commemorate the life and service of Senator Ubah.

Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah passed away on July 27, 2024, in London at the age of 52. His death marked a significant loss for the National Assembly and the people of Anambra South, where he was known for his impactful contributions and dedication to his constituency.

The valedictory session is expected to be a solemn occasion as the Senate reflects on the life and legacy of one of its own.
