Police warn of possible terrorist attack in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has issued an alert to residents about a potential terrorist threat targeting public gatherings in key areas of the state.

In a statement on Friday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, revealed that intelligence reports indicate suspected terrorists are planning to carry out attacks in the state.

“As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety of Kano residents, we urge the public to exercise caution and avoid crowded places until further notice. This will assist security operatives in identifying and neutralizing potential threats,” Haruna stated.

He assured the public that robust security measures have been put in place to maintain peace in the state.

“In response to the intelligence, we have deployed a team of experts from our Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear units to strategic locations. These officers are on high alert to respond promptly to any suspicious activity,” Haruna added.

The police spokesperson also shared emergency contact numbers—08169884988 and 07067157218—for reporting suspicious individuals or objects.

Residents have been urged to promptly report emergencies or unusual activities to the nearest police station or contact the command directly.

“The safety of lives and properties is our priority,” Haruna emphasized. “We deeply appreciate the cooperation and vigilance of Kano residents, which remain critical to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order.”
