The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has begun an investigation into the abduction of a family of four in Chikakore, a community in the Bwari Area Council.
According to reports, the incident occurred early on Monday morning, with seven armed men disguised as vigilantes carrying out the attack.
Speaking anonymously, a security guard in the area confirmed the kidnapping, stating, “The attack occurred this morning, but we’ve only been able to confirm the abduction of four people at this time.”
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident in a statement.
She explained that the attackers used machetes and sticks to deceive the victims into opening their gate before abducting them.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that seven unknown men, disguised as vigilante members and armed with machetes and sticks, attacked the residence of the victim,” Adeh said.
The victims include a man and three members of his family. A neighbor who tried to intervene during the attack sustained injuries and was taken to Kubwa General Hospital for treatment.
Adeh disclosed that police operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene following a distress call received around 1:00 a.m. on January 27, 2025.
“The FCT Police Command has commenced a comprehensive search and rescue operation aimed at securing the safe recovery of the abducted victims and apprehending the perpetrators of this criminal act,” the statement read.
The police urged residents of Chikakore and the general public to remain calm and vigilant. Adeh encouraged anyone with useful information about the incident or the abductors’ whereabouts to come forward to assist the investigation and rescue efforts.
