Police arrest four suspects over death of 28-year-old man in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with the death of 28-year-old Suleiman Haruna, who was allegedly beaten to death by unidentified commercial motorcycle riders in the Sabo area of Ijebu-Ode.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, sparked panic and chaos among residents.

Reports suggest that the victim’s body was removed from the scene by unidentified individuals believed to be among the attackers.

Police have identified the arrested suspects as Monsuru Bakasheri, Sulaiman, Shaibu Ibrahim, and Aliu Rabiu.

While the motive for the attack remains unclear, some community members have alleged that the perpetrators may have been of northern origin.

A community resident, Usman Zuberu, informed the police that the attack occurred around 10 a.m. while the victim was attending a Maulud prayer session.

Zuberu and others alerted authorities to the unrest, prompting a swift response from officers of the Obalende Police Division.

However, by the time the police arrived, the victim’s body had already been removed from the scene.

Ogun State Police spokesperson Odutola Omolola confirmed the arrests and stated that efforts to recover the deceased’s body are ongoing.

“In connection with the incident, four suspects, including Monsuru Bakasheri, Sulaiman, Shaibu Ibrahim, and Aliu Rabiu, have been apprehended and interrogated. All suspects are adults,” she said.

The police have launched an extensive search for the missing body and have placed the area under close surveillance to prevent further unrest.

Odutola assured residents that investigations are ongoing and updates will be provided as new information emerges.

While the community remains calm, authorities are urging residents to maintain peace as the investigation continues.
