Pelumi Nubi Arrives Lagos After a 68-Day Solo Drive from London

Nubi was welcomed at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border by Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Lagos Commissioner of Tourism, Arts, and Culture and Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Her road manifest from the UK took her through France and Spain into Africa through Morocco.
It indicates that she drove across Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Ghana, Togo, Benin, and finally to Lagos, Nigeria.

During her solo road trip, she encountered numerous challenges, including a crash in March, from which she survived. Video footage depicted severe damage to the front of her vehicle and a shattered windshield.

She also faced difficulties with several African immigration officers denying her entry to Sierra Leone at the border.

”I was very lonely; I missed my family and friends. I was shaken when I had an accident, but I’m grateful it was just a temporary setback,” said Ms Nubi.

Ms Nubi said she embarked on the journey to connect the two places she calls home.

“I wanted to undertake something truly brave, something that symbolically connects the two places I consider home and where I’ve spent significant time,” she stated.

In 2022, Ms Nubi gained attention for exploring 77 countries before age 27. With her most recent journey, she has continued to expand her international experiences.

A 28-year-old travel content creator, Pelumi Nubi, who embarked on a solo road trip from London to Lagos in a Peugeot 107 has revealed that she commenced the journey to open up West Africa to other parts of the world.

Nubi, in a media interview said that there was not enough representation of Nigerians in terms of land travel from the United Kingdom, said young women have now been inspired to undertake impossible challenges.
