The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum has expressed full support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara in his control over the party’s structure in the state.
This backing follows a recent development where the PDP’s National Working Committee reaffirmed its recognition of the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive, loyal to Governor Fubara.
The NWC’s decision was based on a Rivers State High Court ruling that annulled the Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses held on July 27, August 10, and August 31, 2024, which had supported former Governor Nyesom Wike’s faction.
Despite an earlier dismissal from PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi, who claimed the NWC had not discussed the matter, the PDP Governors’ Forum has stood firmly behind Fubara. Speaking at a meeting with Fubara, Governor Mohammed commended his colleague for successfully regaining control of the PDP in Rivers and emphasized that the NWC fully supports his position.
Governor Mohammed acknowledged Fubara’s leadership, noting that his achievements in the state have demonstrated his strategic capabilities. He urged PDP members to respect the evolving dynamics of the party, stating that unity is crucial for maintaining a strong opposition. He reaffirmed that all governors are in solidarity with Fubara and his efforts.
Governor Fubara, who also serves as the vice-chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, expressed his gratitude to Mohammed and fellow governors for their unwavering support. He highlighted the importance of cooperation among PDP governors in achieving their goals and addressing the challenges facing the party.
