Okpebholo sworn in as Edo governor, succeeds Obaseki

Monday Okpebholo has officially taken office as the new governor of Edo State, ending Godwin Obaseki’s eight-year term.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital. Okpebholo was sworn in alongside his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, two months after their victory under the All Progressives Congress.

The APC duo won against the candidate from the People’s Democratic Party, backed by Obaseki, who led Edo State from 2016 to 2024.

At the event, notable figures like the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, and former Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, were present.
