The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited will inaugurate the construction of five mini-liquefied natural gas plants in Kogi State today.
This follows the signing of a shareholders’ agreement between NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd and BUA Group for the development of a 45 million standard cubic feet mini-LNG plant in Ajaokuta.
The five mini-LNG plants include Prime LNG, NGML/Gasnexus LNG, BUA LNG, Highland LNG, and LNG Arete.
According to NNPC, the groundbreaking ceremony will take place today at noon in Ajaokuta, marking a significant step in driving Nigeria’s economic growth.
The plants are designed to provide affordable and cleaner energy to businesses and industries throughout Nigeria.
The plants are also expected to drive industrial growth, attract investors, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
On Tuesday, NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd and BUA Group signed an agreement to develop a 45 mmscf mini-LNG plant in Ajaokuta.
The agreement was described as part of efforts to boost domestic gas utilization for businesses and industries.
“This project is set to drive economic growth, support the gas-to-power initiative, and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape,” the NNPCL stated.
According to NNPCL, the signing ceremony took place at the NGML headquarters in Abuja and was attended by BUA Group Executive Director Kabiru Rabiu, Group Chief Legal Officer Oluseye Alayande, and the NGML management team, led by Justin Ezeala.
