MAPOLY close school indefinitely over student protest

The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday, announced the indefinite closure of the school following a student protest over the decision to verify National Diploma results from their previous institutions.

According to the PUNCH, the Head of the Public Relations Department of the state-owned polytechnic, Yemi Ajibola, disclosed this in a statement.

Ajibola said the authority of the school decided to verify National Diploma results obtained by the students from their former schools to combat the menace of fake results.

This move was, however, said to have irked the students forcing them to embark on protest

The school, therefore, shut down activities immediately, directing students to stay away from the campus.

The statement read: “Authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta have announced the closure of the polytechnic effective from Monday, 13th January 2025, till further notice.

“This is to ensure the safety of lives and properties owing to the protest by some students on the decision of the management to verify their National Diploma results from their former schools.

“Management expressed its zero tolerance to fake results from any quarters.

“Consequently, students are advised to stay away from the campus in their own interests. Parents and the general public are assured of timely updates as events unfold.”
