Lagos to air 320 school lessons on TV, social media

The Lagos State Government is set to air 320 school lessons in 10 subjects on Lagos Television and social media platforms under the Eko Learners Support Programme.

The initiative aims to help students prepare for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination and National Examination Council exams.

Speaking on Tuesday, Mr. Durotimi Adeboye, the Project Director and CEO of Global Education Media Ltd., consultant to the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, confirmed the programme’s arrangements.

“The Eko Learners Support Programme, launched on January 14 by Commissioner Jamiu Alli-Balogun, is a key step to improve students’ performance in their exams,” Adeboye said.

The programme, developed by a team of educators in the ministry, features lessons in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Government, History, Literature-in-English, and Yoruba.

“It is fantastic that the Lagos State Government pays for students’ WASSCE. Beyond that, this initiative boosts their preparation for better outcomes,” Adeboye added.

The lessons will be delivered by 30 carefully selected teachers and broadcast on Lagos Television and social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).

Adeboye explained, “Students can pause, scroll back, and review the lessons for clarification. They will also be able to ask questions and receive answers.”

The pilot project is scheduled to run for 26 weeks, giving students ample time to engage with the materials and strengthen their preparation.

Adeboye urged students to take full advantage of the programme, emphasizing its importance for their academic success.

“The government has provided these resources, and it’s up to the candidates to use them. Without good grades in these examinations, barriers to post-secondary education will remain,” he said.
