The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that sensitive materials needed for the smooth conduct the upcoming governorship elections have arrived the state today ( Monday).
The agency shared this update via its X.com (formerly Twitter) page on Monday.
Picture of the sensitive materials accompanied with caption stating that the materials arrived the state capital Akure safely.
The caption reads, “Sensitive materials for the Ondo State Governorship election, scheduled for Saturday 16th November 2024 have arrived in Akure, the State capital, and received by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The materials were conveyed to Akure by the Nigeria Airforce.”
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has expressed optimism that the Ondo State governorship election would be a successful exercise.
Yakubu particularly said the commission had learned its lessons from the Edo State governorship election and previous elections in the areas of logistics and results management.
Recall that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ordered the deployment of 6,000 officers to ensure security, ahead of the November 16 Ondo State Governorship Election.
