Interswitch Group, a leading player in integrated payments and digital commerce, has unveiled the top nine finalists for the sixth edition of its prestigious InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition.
In a statement released on Thursday, the company described the announcement as a pivotal moment in its mission to identify and celebrate Nigeria’s brightest young scientific talents.
The 2024 edition of the competition witnessed a record-breaking turnout, with thousands of secondary school students nationwide showcasing their scientific acumen in a bid to secure a place in the grand finale.
After intense rounds of quizzes and problem-solving challenges, the top nine students emerged, demonstrating exceptional proficiency in core STEM subjects.
The finalists include David Babalola from Brainfield College, Lagos; Denyefa Omare and Chidera Ejidike from St. Gregory’s College, Lagos; Hansel Orumah from The Ambassadors College, Ogun State; Ndudu Ekong Henry from Pegasus High School, Akwa Ibom; David Umeojiaka and Elvis Ekwelem from Graceland International School, Rivers State; and representing Marist Brothers’ Juniorate, Abia State, are Nwachukwu Ebubechukwu and Uzoma David Onyeka.
These students are set to compete in the much-anticipated grand finale, where they will tackle advanced STEM challenges for the coveted title of Nigeria’s Best STEM Student.
The top performers will receive scholarships, cash prizes, and other rewards designed to support their academic growth.
The grand prize includes a five-year tertiary scholarship worth N15 million, complemented by a monthly stipend, a brand-new laptop, and the esteemed title of Nigeria’s top STEM student.
Second place will receive a N10 million scholarship over three years and a brand-new laptop, while the third-place winner will take home a N5 million scholarship for one year of university and a laptop.
Finalists in fourth to ninth positions will also receive cash prizes and laptops to recognize their exceptional efforts.
