The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed that he has no regrets about supporting President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.
Before his current role, Wike served as the governor of Rivers State for eight years under the Peoples Democratic Party. Following his tenure, he was appointed as FCT Minister by President Tinubu, who leads the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.
During a thanksgiving service in Ochigba, organized by the PDP in Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas of Rivers State, Wike thanked President Tinubu for placing his trust in him.
He revealed that he had faced threats for supporting Tinubu before the presidential elections but made it clear that he would make the same decision again if given the chance.
Wike also addressed accusations of land grabbing that had been directed at him by some residents of Abuja. He rejected these claims, stressing the importance of following proper procedures regarding land ownership. Wike made it clear that individuals unlawfully occupying government land would risk having their properties revoked. He dismissed the allegations as unfounded, pointing out that as the person in charge of lands in Abuja, he would not be involved in such actions, according to Daily Post.
He acknowledged the support of President Tinubu, stating that without it, he and others from Rivers State would not have been able to face the challenges they have encountered. Wike reassured the public that the right course of action would always be followed, regardless of the criticism or propaganda directed at him.
“I have no regrets, I have no apologies. If the opportunity comes I will do the same thing,” he said.
” I am in charge of lands in Abuja, how will I go and grab what I am in charge of.
“We must thank Mr President, if he did not give us this opportunity, we wouldn’t have known. Here in Rivers State, we thought it was difficult.
“When you go to the capital, you know you are dealing with the entire Nigerians.
“I can assure you, no matter the cry you cry, no matter the propaganda you carry, if you like give me any name you want to give me, the right thing must be done,” he added.
