There has been a fire outbreak at Dangote refinery in Lagos after what sounded like an explosion.
The firm had yet to give the cause of the incident, just as the workers reportedly assembled on the [premises of the company.
Firefighters were said to have responded swiftly to the incident and put out the fire which gutted a section of the firm.
The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, disclosed in a statement that the fire has been contained and there was no cause for alarm.
The statement read, “We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP) today, Wednesday, 26th of June.
There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating normally, and there are no recorded injuries or bodily harm to any of our staff on duty.”
Recall that Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote had disclosed that he fought and overcame a strong group of local and foreign mafia before establishing the $19 billion refinery.
Dangote said the mafia in the oil sector, who are stronger than those doing drugs, did everything they could to sabotage the refinery project.
