FG Moves To Expedite China’s Zero-Tariff Policy To Boost Trade, Cut Import Costs
The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the implementation of China’s zero-tariff policy as part of efforts to deepen bilateral trade relations and unlock new economic opportunities between both countries.
Senior government officials, in a strategic session with the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, pledged to fast-track the policy rollout to support Nigeria’s wider economic reform agenda and drive competitiveness in the global market.
According to officials at the meeting, final mechanisms are being put in place to operationalise the policy, which is expected to boost trade volumes, lower import costs, and enhance market access for Nigerian businesses.
Policy Expected to Lower Costs, Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
The zero-tariff framework is designed to reduce the cost of importing eligible goods from China while promoting smoother trade flows under a more predictable tariff regime.
