The Federal Government has approved N4 billion for Conditional Cash Transfers and an additional N2 billion for interest-free loans to rural farmers as part of efforts to alleviate poverty and boost food security.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwada, disclosed this during the launch of the 2025 Nigeria Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan at the United Nations House in Abuja.
The initiative targets at least 10 million displaced households, focusing on vulnerable groups such as women, widows, and persons with disabilities, particularly in the North East.
“The President has approved the ministry’s plan to begin paying CCTs to 10 million displaced households between February and April,” Yilwada stated.
“This initiative aims to support those most in need, particularly families affected by displacement.”
The government’s actions shows a broader commitment to addressing educational and humanitarian challenges, ensuring that vulnerable populations are not left behind in its development agenda.
