The Governor-elect of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the appointment of Fred Itua as the Chief Press Secretary for his forthcoming administration.
The announcement, shared by Okpebholo’s media team on Monday in Abuja, marks the first official appointment as Okpebholo prepares for his inauguration and the handover of leadership from the outgoing Governor, Godwin Obaseki, set for Tuesday.
Itua, a seasoned journalist with prior roles at Leadership and The Sun newspapers, will manage the media and communication efforts for Okpebholo’s administration.
An accomplished professional in the field, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, a Master’s in Media Arts from the University of Abuja, and is nearing the completion of his PhD in Development Communication at Veritas University, Abuja.
With a journalism career that spans coverage of the National Assembly and expertise in migration, health, anti-corruption, and environmental reporting, Itua brings a well-rounded perspective to his new role.
Known for his commitment to continuous learning and cultural collaboration, he is expected to lead the media team with an adaptable and innovative approach as the new administration begins.
