Burna Boy Sets Record with Fifth Grammy Album Nomination
Afrobeats megastar Burna Boy has made history once again, becoming the first Nigerian artist to earn five career Grammy nominations in album categories
The singer’s latest body of work, No Sign of Weakness (2025), was nominated for Best Global Music Album at the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards, solidifying his status as one of Africa’s most globally celebrated artists.
The self-acclaimed African Giant will compete in the category alongside Youssou N’Dour(Éclairer le Monde*), Anoushka Shankar (Chapter III: We Return to Light*), Siddhant Bhatia (Sounds of Kumbha) Shakti (Mind Explosion – 50th Anniversary Tour Live) and Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia (Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo)
Burna Boy’s consistent Grammy streak began with African Giant (2019), followed by Twice As Tall (2020) — which won Best Global Music Album at the 63rd Grammys — Love, Damini (2022), I Told Them (2023), and now No Sign of Weakness (2025).
This year, the Last Last crooner also bagged another nod in the Best African Music Performance category for his hit single Love. He will compete alongside Davido (With You featuring Omah Lay), Ayra Starr and Wizkid (Gimme Dat) Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin (Hope & Love) and South Africa’s Tyla (Push 2 Start)
With his two latest nominations, Burna Boy now boasts 13 total Grammy nominations, further cementing his influence as one of the continent’s biggest music exports.
His earlier Grammy appearance also included a feature on Justin Bieber’s 2022 nominated album Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe) with the track Loved By You.
The 2026 Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
Burna Boy’s latest milestone not only underscores his individual artistry but also reflects the continued global rise of Afrobeats and African music on the world stage.
