Police rescue wife of retired AIG Hakeem Odumosu

The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs. Folashade Odumosu, the wife of a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who was abducted last Thursday in Ogun State.

The victim was kidnapped at the entrance of her residence in Arepo, Owode Local Government Area, and taken through a swampy area to an unknown destination.

She regained her freedom on Wednesday after an operation led by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo.

Speaking to reporters, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the rescue in a telephone interview on Thursday. He revealed that the operation successfully neutralized the kidnappers, and the ransom paid as bait was recovered.

Adejobi explained, “The Ogun State Police Command acted swiftly under the leadership of CP Lanre Ogunlowo. The kidnappers were neutralized during the operation, and the ransom used as bait was also recovered.”

However, he declined to disclose the amount of ransom paid or the exact location where the victim was rescued.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the Ogun CP and his team for their efforts. He reiterated the police force’s commitment to protecting Nigerians and ensuring their safety.

The incident occurred on January 18, 2025, when armed men intercepted Mrs. Odumosu at her residence in Arepo. The kidnappers dragged her out of her Lexus SUV and escaped through a swampy area.
