Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, and popular Afrobeats star Davido have ended their long-standing feud.
The reconciliation took place at Pinnick’s beach house in Ilashe, Lagos, over the weekend.
The disagreement began in October 2023 when Pinnick criticized Davido for not performing at a Warri event, despite being paid $94,600. This led to a lawsuit demanding N2 billion in damages.
In October 2024, Davido settled a breach of contract lawsuit filed by Pinnick out of court. As part of the settlement, he agreed to pay ₦30 million and perform at the “Warri Again 2024” concert. The agreement included a public statement from Davido acknowledging that all issues had been resolved and expressing his commitment to perform at the upcoming event.
On Monday, January 13, 2025, Pinnick shared an update on their renewed friendship, stating, “We received my aburo, our global pride, Davido, and his team in my Beach House in Ilashe, Lagos State, where my family and close friends of ours spent the weekend. We had such a wonderful time playing football, basketball, volleyball, and quad biking.”
Pinnick praised Davido’s character, saying, “David is an amazing guy, full of qualities. It’s human to make mistakes, weak enough to cry for your mistakes, intelligent enough to learn from them, and resurgent enough to bounce back in grace and full throttle.”
He also spoke about the significance of the event for Lagos tourism, likening Koko Beach to South Beach in Miami, USA, and thanked God for the opportunity to settle their differences.
