The governors of Abia and Akwa Ibom states, Alex Otti and Umo Eno, have agreed to work together on repairing major link roads between the two states to boost economic activities and improve transportation.
This partnership was confirmed during a condolence visit by Otti to Eno at the Akwa Ibom Government House in Uyo. Otti visited to express his condolences on the recent passing of Akwa Ibom’s First Lady, Patience Eno.
While consoling Eno and his family, Otti acknowledged the First Lady’s positive impact and pledged Abia’s support in keeping her vision alive.
He also emphasized the importance of improving roads that connect the two states for their shared socioeconomic benefit, saying, “We will work collaboratively to fix the roads linking our states for the socioeconomic interest of our citizens.”
Eno appreciated the support from Abia, mentioning how the kindness from others has helped his family during this difficult time.
Reflecting on his late wife’s contributions, Eno said, “The loss of my wife is a lifetime loss. We courted for two years and were married for 38 years… She was an accomplished woman… She joined me as pastor of our ministry, managing the women and building homes.”
On road repairs, Eno pledged to work closely with Abia, not only to secure federal support for fixing the Ikot Ekpene-Aba road but also to address deteriorated sections of the Ini-Arochukwu road.
“For the road you have talked about, if there are other roads we can collaborate on, I am sure we are prepared to do that… Aba remains a strong regional commercial center for all of us. I will see whatever we can do to ensure that our people have smooth passage to and fro Aba,” Eno assured.
Both governors agreed that accessible roads would greatly benefit their citizens, especially those involved in trade and commerce, as Aba stands as a vital economic hub for the region.
