The Gombe State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Chinwe Nwachukwu, has announced that 16 Corps Members will face disciplinary actions while 1,268 Batch A, Stream I corps members completed their service year in the state.
Speaking during a low-key passing-out ceremony at the NYSC Zonal Office on Thursday, Nwachukwu praised the corps members for their dedication and service to the nation.
“My dear compatriots of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I service year, I heartily salute you for the successful completion of your sojourn in Gombe State for the one-year mandatory national service to the nation and humanity at large. I am filled with great joy and very proud of all you have accomplished during the service year,” she said.
Nwachukwu expressed her gratitude for their contributions to various sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and community development projects in their host communities. “Posterity will forever remember you for contributing your quota to nation-building through positive impacts in these sectors,” she added.
However, Nwachukwu disclosed that 16 corps members are facing disciplinary actions for various offences, while 21 others will be remobilized to complete their service.
“You have equally learnt valuable lessons about the culture, customs, and traditions of the people of Gombe State, which I hope will bring about the national integration and unity Nigeria craves for,” she stated.
She encouraged the corps members to apply the skills, education, and training they gained during their service year to their future endeavors, emphasizing the importance of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program.
“Whether you decide to further your education, pursue a career, or start your own business, I am confident that you will make a difference in your respective fields. Keep the productive relationships you have established during your service year safe and sustained, as they will help break down cultural barriers and foster understanding,” Nwachukwu said.
The NYSC coordinator concluded by wishing the outgoing corps members success in their future endeavors, urging them to remain ambassadors of unity, peace, and progress.
The passing-out ceremony marked the end of their one-year national service, which is a mandatory requirement for Nigerian graduates under the NYSC scheme.
